If only a fresh coat of paint could fix everything right!! Well when you live in an older manufactured home a fresh coat of paint goes a long way in making the old look fresh.
I pulled out some leftover paint I had in the garage and had a little DIY this week to freshen up around our little ranch house.
I made some cute little storage shelves to go in the kids bathroom. I had been thinking about getting them one of those over the toilet units. But with 3 teenagers sharing this bathroom I really felt they needed to feel like they each had a space in there.
So I bought 3 wood crates from Micheal's they were 6.99 each painted them and hung them on the wall like a shelf. I used chalk to personalize their name on each. It was a simple DIY that made a small bathroom feel a little bigger storage wise.
The kids say they love the individual shelves. Now they can find all of their things. Before I had kept all of their pimple creams and face washes in a big wicker basket. The kids said that their things would get so buried in the basket that they would not even bother to dig around for them. So glad these worked out to be so purposeful!
I then pulled out the cans of left over porch paint and gave the front porch a fresh coat. I also made a wreath and a new welcome sign. It felt like a great way to say hello to a new season. And don't you just love a freshly painted porch.
A fresh coat of paint for the bathroom cabinets. It is hard to believe now that this cabinet was a hideous shade of peach and that we left it that way for 4 years!
I painted both bathroom cabinets black I think it helped to update these ancient bathrooms and give them a more fresh current look. It was a really cheap and easy project.
Then I had some fun and made name plaques to put on the horse stalls. I also made a little autumn wreath for the pasture gate.
The weather finally broke some this week from the oppressive heat. Don't get me wrong we are still in the 80's every day, but at least the 100's have said goodbye for now. I have really been enjoying the morning fog and leaving all the windows open with a nice cool breeze.
Anna did some freshening up this week.. no paint involved. She got some layers put into her long locks. She looks so cute I love it.
Does Pinterest ever fail you? I made a pumpkin smoothie from Pinterest this week. Anna and I pretended that we loved it for about 2 minutes then we were ready to spit it out and dump it down the sink ehehehehe. I am sure if you fooled around with this recipe you might be able to make something decent of it, but for now we will put the pumpkin smoothie recipe in the back of the recipe box and leave it for a later date.
I found out some awful news this week. Well actually it was just the topping on everything else right now. It always seems like bad news comes in bunches right??
My dog had a tumor, a mast cell tumor. She had surgery and had it removed. They think they got it all. But like everything else they really had no answers. I asked a lot of questions and really got no answers from the Vet. I have been reading a lot this week on dog cancer and I think I have a pretty good handle on what we are going to do. I am going to put her on a special diet and some supplements and we shall see what happens. She is pretty young she is 5 years old so I am hoping her young age will help increase her odds of beating this.
I know she is just a dog. And I have family and friends right now that are very sick with cancer so I would never want to make it seem like I have this out of perspective.
That being said she has been such a faithful friend that it really has me feeling rather emotional. I guess I got really caught of guard. And for sure I am not ready to say goodbye to her just yet. We have a few more adventures to go on together.
I know I probably sound like debbie downer lately but things have been tough. My blog for me is really like a journal where I get to express my life and everything in it. So thanks for hanging in there and reading along with me. Even if I sound like a big huge party pooper. I really appreciate it. And as always I just like to keep it real!!
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, the must be felt with the heart.
