Leave some room...

Have you ever had a really good feeling about something?
This week my husband and I had one of those. He had a job interview on Thursday that we had been anticipating a week for over the holidays. We kept saying to each other "I have a really good feeling about this!" We had a sense of joy about the possibilities of this interview and how great it would be for our family to get this job. Start the New Year with a new beginning.

Family and Friends prayed for Adrian and we sent him on his way to his interview.
We felt really good about this we really had a good feeling.

While Adrian was driving to his interview the company he was interviewing with called him and cancelled. They also mentioned they would not be rescheduling the interview at this time.
When we heard Adrian pull back into the driveway earlier than we had expected him to be home we were wondering what had happened?
What a huge sense of disappointment we felt. I am sure it crossed each of our minds, how could this happen? We had such a good feeling, we prayed and prayed about this.
God must know we really need a job, we really needed this new start.

It is a good reminder that we do not need to over inflate or pump ourselves up with joy and confidence.
I am not saying it is wrong to think positively. I am a big fan of speaking positive words. But sometimes we can actually limit our dreams but thinking we know exactly how something should be. If we lock ourselves into one idea we will definitely fall short of the Vision God truly has for us.
Sometimes it can be hard to understand that God has much better plans for
us. Especially when they turn out different than we imagined. But the real truth is we can't even imagine, the life and journey God will be with us on.
Instead of looking for God in a particular way, we need to remember to leave Him some room and keep our eyes open He will be there.

As workers for God we have to learn to make room for God...to Give God some elbow room.
We calculate and estimate, and say that this and that will happen, and we forget to make room for
God to come in as He chooses...
Do not look for God to come in a particular way, but look for Him.
That is the way we make room for Him. Expect Him to come, but do not expect Him only in a certain way. However much we know God, the great lesson to learn is that at any minute He may break in. We  are apt to overlook this element of surprise, yet God never works in any other way. All of a sudden God meets life

Keep your life so constant in its contact with God that His surprising power may break out on the right hand and on the left. Always be in a state of expectancy, and see that you leave room for God to come in as He likes.
But when it pleased God... Galatians 1:15

  1. oh...sorry to hear this Heather {{hugs}} but hey, God must have a reason for things going the way they do..He sees and He Knows! His Ways are not our ways..we just need to trust in Him even if the way is unclear.

  3. Oh, I am sure this was so disappointing for you all. It brings to mind something that you probably have seen before:
    Disappointment ~ HIS appointment
Change one letter then I see,
That the thwarting of my purpose
Is God's better choice for me.

  4. I'm sorry about all this, it's a good thing you are all so close and supportive of each other. I'm not a religious person at all, but I totally get what your saying. Sometimes the path we think is best isn't the right one at all and it isn't until we are on the right one that we can look back and understand- ah I get it now. I really do wish Adrian all the best of luck in finding a new path.

    I love your spirit Heather!

  7. I am so sorry. How heartbreaking. It's hard to stay faithful in times like these, but you're doing it so well. Prayers to you and your husband, who I am sure is crushed the most about this.
